The Keys (2017)

Amanda B. Goodman is such a master of suspense build and plot twists, her new short, The Keys, delivers such an amazing talent of horror-thriller style.

Amanda’s writing style makes you immediately care about the characters you meet.  They are sympathetic and you can relate to their points of view in the short matter of time you watch them.

The story is about Sam(Seth Panman(co-writer, co-producer, co-star and co-director), a newbie real estate agent, hounded by his boss, Ian(John DiSilvestri, voice only) on the phone about closing the deal with a client, Ally(Amanda B. Goodman, writer, co-producer,co-star and co-director).  Ally is a perky quirky energetic client, who i could sense that there was something off about her, because of her weird and dark sense of humor, which she would play off in a joking manner.  Sam would just brush it off and continue with his sales tour of apartments because of his wanting to not be fired.  Knowing of Amanda’s style, you know it doesn’t end there and it will take you into dark places..

This is a mesmerizing film that kept me glued to my chair til the end!  I give this 5 out of 5 bloody hearts, for the story, character development and the TWIST that she throws in your face when you least expect it!  I highly recommend this horror-thriller gem as a MUST SEE!!

YODO IS HERE!! or as they say, “YODO, BITCHES!”

The wait is finally over!  As of May 30, 2017, YOU ONLY DIE ONCE the Series, premiered on YouTube!  All of Season 1 has been released from the vaults by the very creative Amanda B. Goodman and her amazingly talented cast and crew!

Season 1 is six fang-tastic episodes, each under 20 mins.  The way they are edited can leave you in desperation for the next episode to see what happens next.  The Vampire Hunter world that Amanda B. Goodman has imagined is mostly about loyalty to each other and that things are not always what they seem.  In fact, I had my “titties twisted” by the mind-boggling events that drew me in deep into the YODO world.

Cecilia, the impetuous hunter, always going for the kill before anyone else can act and doesn’t always succeed.  Linda, the mean bitch, can stop everyone in their tracks by one of her mean quips and sour face, she also doesn’t like people very much and if she doesn’t know you, she doesn’t want you to hang on her, “OK, Lou!”.  Jamie, is the comic relief, awkward socializer and heart of the group but deadly with her crossbow, “Kristy”.  This trio of female vampire hunters have been lifelong friends since early grade school and have also been training in vampire hunting since they were children too.    They have more hunter friends that help them out; Ann, Rufus’ girlfriend and a very snarky hunter who can be very kind and caring to her hunter family and can match Linda in the sarcasm department.  Rufus, Ann’s boyfriend turned vampire(from the short film) and Linda’s step brother, who can go “undercover” to vampire events but also helps protect his hunter friends, even though he forgets that garlic chips he can no longer have because it burns him.

Season 1 has more of a tragic backstory for Cecilia who’s favorite uncle was killed years ago, by a vicious female vampire, as she was told.  Vera, sired Rufus in the short film, and she becomes the target of their hunt.

YODO is addictive and mesmerizing and kept me glued to my seat for almost 2 hours.  I love it!  I’m hooked and I want more!!  Now I’m waiting for Season 2!!  I give YODO 10 out of 10 fangs and can’t wait to see what else Amanda B. Goodman and her crew can do!

Flesh and Blood A Go Go

Inspired by David Lynch and SOV movies like Spine, Flesh and Blood A Go! Go! follows the story of some, let’s say interesting, photographers, and a model named Kandi, who seems to be a little down on her luck, when it comes to finding jobs. After she takes this modeling job, she finds out that the shoot was much more bloodier than she imagined. All and all, this was a great film, I loved the cinematography, and the soundtrack is outstanding. Hopefully, we can contact the bands, and have their music on EMZT soon.

Mimes

The brilliant minds of Sargad did it again. Sarah Giercksky, the writer, and Xander Turian play mimes in this short film. It’s about five minutes long, and has very little dialogue. The chemistry between Sarah and Xander is wonderful, and the ending had me laughing.

You can check it out at Popcorn Short Films on Facebook. Wonderful job by all involved with this.

Zombiepalooza Radio LIVE!

One of the newer podcasts that I am enjoying is Zombiepalooza Radio. They are similar to EMZT, but have some great content for their five hour weekly shows. They bring on great authors, musicians, convention owners, and anyone in the horror life. When I first started watching on YouTube, I was instantly hooked, and completely entertained. Here’s a sample episode:

As you can see, this is a very entertaining podcast, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

I Bleed Indie

If you are a fan of horror, then one of your bookmarks should be I Bleed Indie. This is a Pay-Per-View site dedicated to independent horror.

From the website:

IBleedIndie is a PPV website dedicated to indie horror. Many indie horror film makers choose to distribute their films independently rather than dealing with distribution companies or sales agents. This option severely limits their VOD options, narrowing it down to personal Youtube or Vimeo channels. This site is designed with self distribution in mind, although we do also have a good few films from amazing indie friendly companies like Wild Eye, Artsploitation, Brinkvision, SGL, and more! We allow indie film makers to keep 90% of the sales from rentals on this site and they get to keep all rights to their films rather than being locked into years-long contracts. If you love indie horror, be sure to check out our parent company, theblood-shed.com, one of the best indie horror-focused news sites out there! Stay scary and support independent film makers! ~Johnny Macabre

I am a fan of The Blood Shed, with great news on independent horror films. It’s one of the best sites on the internet. So, please, head over to both The Blood Shed and I Bleed Indie today, and help give back to the horror community. Let’s keep horror sane, support these wonderful sites.
